Playing the piano is a talent like no other. Whether you play for a crowd, your own pleasure or small family gatherings during the holidays, each note strikes a chord with the listener. Each piece has a life of it's own, a story to tell that will be interpreted by the audience.
If you have only learned to play from a piece of sheet music, you are not only letting yourself down, but also the people who will listen to you play. Learn to improvise like a professional. Examine the piano chords, put them together to create an uplifting piece or a sad, melancholy tale. Most instructors will not teach you to improvise, but you can learn!
