Paid Surveys - "Real or Scam"?

As I have mentioned many times before, I am always on the lookout for new earning opportunities that will really bring in a few extra dollars here and there. Because of this, my mailbox is frequently filled with garbage about "paid" surveys that turn out to be "participation required" prizes.

I know this before I ever sign up for the "survey" because I read the terms and conditions. Generally, the first few lines of this page in a web site will tell you if you have to complete a number of offers before you receive the reward. After checking the millionth e-mail survey today, only to find that I needed to complete 10 offers before I got their gift card, I decided it was high time to have a comprehensive guide to the actual companies who will reward you for answering questions to real surveys.

They are out there. You can find them with a simple internet search. That same search will bring you tons of scams and "buy this before I give you this" companies.

I will be starting a complete guide to paying survey sites right here at The Ranting Office. I say it will be started, because it will never be complete. As long as we have this devilish invention called the internet, there will always be a new survey company and 5 scams to go along with the new one.

To get you started, I have posted the survey companies that I routinely complete surveys for, and get paid to do so.

Survey Savvy - Survey Savvy rewards you with cash incentives to complete surveys that are sent to you by e-mail. Rewards are generally low, $1-$2, but add up after being a member for a time. They will also pay you for your referrals efforts. If your family and friends are interested in taking a survey or two in the evenings, get them signed up as well.

Survey Spot - This company routinely sends one to two surveys daily. Rewards include drawing entries, cash rewards and evaluation rewards. Evaluation rewards are products that are sent to you free of charge to try in your home and answer questions regarding the product a few days after you receive it. If you have children, they will often ask you to allow them to participate in surveys, increasing your earning potential. Payment is requested after you reach $5.00 in earnings by you, and sent by check. I have been consistently paid by them every time I requested a check in the last year and a half.

Your2Cents - Your2cents sends cash reward surveys based on your profile. After completing the survey, you will instantly win between $1-$5 for that survey. They are not quite as busy as they have been in the past, but it is still a great way to earn a bit of extra money. Payment is requested after you reach $10.00, and is sent by check. Again, this one has consistently paid me over the last few years.

As you can see, there truly are real opp's out there for someone who wants to take a few surveys a week to earn an extra dollar or two. Watch for a post regarding our new Survey Guide, which will be posted as soon as I get some work done on it!

Printable Coupons Web Site Reviews

As you all know, I have been on the hunt for printable coupons for myself as well as my readers. In my exhausting search to find sites that actually offer great coupons to their users, I have also found a number of sites that are just plain scams. It appears that many of these sites use the niche for coupons to promote their affiliate programs, gather e-mail addresses to sell to other companies (resulting in more spam mail for your box) or to sell you something. I've decided to post them here in an effort to save you some time and energy in identifying true offers, avoiding spam mail and staying away from sites who have no true purpose in life other than to get your personal information.

Bookmark this article guys and gals. It will be updated each time I find one of these awesome scammy, murky websites.

PrintCouponsOnline.net - Scam. You give them your e-mail address, only to find out that upon entering your zip code, you are forwarded to Quality Health who claims you will get free samples and coupons from them. I have been a member of this site before, and never received anything from them.

Shopathome.com - Shady. This one will ask that you install their coupon tool. Sounds promising, as it is supposed to identify websites you visit, and offer coupons relating to that product or item. Once again, it will do what it says it will do, but only for companies that offer affiliate programs, such as Netflix. Useless, unless you want to sign up for companies that charge you a monthly fee.

Best-OnlineCoupons.net - Shady. They offer some information, which is readily available on blogs, websites and every coupon site listed in search engines today. Their advertised sites, however, are mostly scam sites. Many of those I am in the process of listing here.

EntirelyCoupons.com - Shady. This one redirects to clipngocoupons.com. After attempting to sign up, I was told they could not verify my address. There is no way to go past this screen at this point, which tells me that they are not offering anything worthwhile.

Once again, keep an eye on this post if coupons are one of your interests. It will be updated once a week or so.

Grocery Shopping With Printable Coupons

It is that time again. Mother Hubbard's Cupboard is bare! Once again, The Ranting Office is on the hunt for printable coupons to help our readers save money in the grocery store. Grab a cup of coffee, I'm hoping that this week will provide some great offers!

I will start with the Cents Off program first. This is a unique company that provides you with coupons that are sent to you in the mail. It is a bit strange to consider, as they do charge a fee for each coupon you order, however, the fee is quite small compared to the savings they offer.

As a consumer, you choose the products you want to buy with coupons. This means that you are not wasting money on coupons for items that you would never purchase. You can check your local stores to compare sales versus the coupons that are available. The possibilities to save on your grocery bill are endless when you shop this way.

Couponing is a procedure that will only take an hour or two out of your week. If you are like me, then you shop every two weeks. One hour for $40-50 in savings. I am willing to put that effort into saving money that can be used for other necessities for my family.

I primarily use Cents Off to find coupons for products that I purchase on a regular basis. The ability order 10 or more coupons, lets me keep a supply on hand for those I use them every week items.

The next post will focus on coupons found on the internet for this week that can be printed right in your home. This should help to cut your costs.

Remember The Golden Rule! Never print, clip or order a coupon for a product you would not normally buy. The exception is for a new item that you think would appeal to your family and your budget, but this exception is rare!

Cash 4 Gold

Recently, The Ranting Office has been exploring ways to supplement our readers income. These have included several different ways to earn and save, such as paid to click sites and printable coupons. Today, we will explore Cash 4 Gold. We have all seen the advertisements on television, on the internet and in various publications. How does it work?

The process is fairly simple. If you have broken jewelry or jewelry that you no longer wear, you can send it directly to Cash 4 Gold by requesting their "Refiner's Return Pack". This can be done online or by phone. Each Refiners Return Pack has a tracking number on it, is opened individually and the tracking number is verified in their system. Your jewelry will be weighted on a certified scale and tested for precious metal content. Once a value is assessed, you will receive a check or a direct deposit to your checking account. I always prefer the direct deposit method for anything, as you will receive your money faster as a general rule.

Cash 4 Gold does not offer cash for gemstones, other than small diamonds. For this reason, if you have jewelry with other gemstones, diamonds larger than 1 carat or fine time pieces, you should contact them first. They do work with another company that will be able to help you. Perhaps the best feature, you can track your Refiners Return Pack online. This offers you the ability to trust in this company who has 60 years of experience behind them. They are one of the nation's fastest growing companies today.

ShopWiki.com

Searching the internet can be a long and exhausting process when you are searching for just the right gift or item. Many small, home based sites are not able to spend money on keywords or search engine optimization. And so, while Janie from Smalltown, America, makes a great product that is reasonably priced, her business goes unnoticed by those of us searching for hand crafted soap! I admit it, I am a lover of small businesses who craft things like soap, candles and blankets in their own homes, and attempt to keep the old ways alive.

Shopwiki offers listings on over 223 million products from the internet. They provide a way to narrow down your searches by allowing you to search by price, color, and brand. They do not ask for a fee from website owners in order to be listed, but rather allow a business owner or small time crafter to get listed free of charge. You will be the highlight of the baby shower when you show up with a unique gift that will rarely appear on another baby in your town or city. The chances of you finding that great baby sweater with a normal internet search are less than 10%.

I have become a great believer in Shopwiki since it opened in 2005! You might be looking for a rare jelly made from bees at a great price, and you will find it here!

Bux Sites - Scams Or Honest Income Opportunities?

I spend a lot of time, searching and researching income opportunities for stay at home moms and dads. I read tons of forums, paid to post sites and more on a daily basis. There is always someone asking if Bux sites are scams or real opportunities.

The sad, honest truth is that the majority of them are scams guys and gals. This script, as I have stated before, is too readily available, for a cost that is under $20.00. Add to this the fact that a domain name and hosting can be purchased for under $10.00. Anyone with the ability to read and understand instructions can design one of these sites if they have the script. So, for 30 bucks, a scam artist can get a bux site, set it up and have it running in less than 24 hours and start taking your money. If they spend any time at all on the legitimate paid to click (ptc) sites that are online, they have free advertising that they can use to get members.

If their upgrade fee is $5.00, they only need 6 honest members to come in, upgrade their accounts and they break even. This is an easy way to double or even triple their money in a very short period of time, and then they run off to set up the next scam site.

This is not to say that there are not legitimate, paying ptc sites out there. The Ranting Office actually advertises several that have paid us regularly throughout the last year. You will notice though, that not one of them is done on a bux script. Remember to follow the golden rules when signing up for and expecting payment for clicking on any ptc or paid to site.

If you have to pay for it, it is a scam. While there may be legit sites out there that offer true income earning potential for your payment, they are few and far between. Imagine trying to find a needle in a haystack...that's how rare they are.

If you are required to upgrade, it is a scam. Again, the occurrence of a site that will make you money off of your hard earned cash is so rare, you will likely never see it in your lifetime.

Trust no one. I don't care if there is an interview with the Pope telling you that this site is honest. The truth is, it probably isn't.

If you choose to upgrade or buy referrals, do it with your earnings from that site. Never open your checkbook, expose your credit card or dip into your PayPal or AlertPay accounts to pay for these options.

There is no such thing as free money. Period.

Use whois.com to find out if the site is owned by a real person or someone named Bud Light. Yes, I actually found a site once that was owned by someone named Bud Light and his address was Beer Lane. Go figure...

Finally, if you have a site that isn't paying you, post about it. Post it here, post it on the get paid forums, post it on MyLot, just post it.

Printable Coupons - Save Money & Avoid Spam

In an effort to save a bit of money, I went in search of printable coupons online. Now mind you, 90% of the coupon sites out there are spam scams. Some have legitimate coupons available, but they will spam you with a thousand offers for things you do not want, free trials, offers and more. These are the offers that help them make their money to keep their sites running.

We who hate spam, avoid these sites like the plague. But there are some great coupon offers out there right now on manufacturer's websites. I tend to follow the golden rule though. If it isn't a product I would normally buy, I do not clip, print or otherwise save the coupon. It tends to cause me to spend more money then normal if I do.

I wanted to share the coupons that I found today with you!

Newman's Own -

$1.00 off Newman's Own Thin & Crispy Pizza - This is a new product, and may not be available in all stores. However, I love Newman's products, tend to purchase a few frozen meals for lunches and so printed the coupon to try them. Print Limit: 2

$1.00 off Newman's Own Sauces, Dressings, Drinks - Print Limit: 2

Little Debbie -

$0.55 off 100 Calorie Family Snack Packs
- Print Limit: Unknown. I printed three before I stopped printing.

Velveeta -

$1.00 off 1lb. Velveeta Cheese - Print Limit: 2

I will update this post as I find more today!

Family Night - All Roads Lead Home - The Movie

Today, it appears that there is a lack of parental involvement in our kids lives. This comes from many factors, including the need for parents to work 2 or 3 jobs to support their families. Our family sits down several nights a week together. Each night has its own theme, such as WWE night, where all we watch is wrestling. We each have a favorite wrestler who we root for, we each have a favorite to hate and there is always someone yelling at the television.

The favorite night of the week though, remains our movie night. I have five wonderful children, who take turns picking the movie that we will watch. After the big decision is made, the same child will pick the snacks, including something that is nutritional. Chips and popcorn are great, but they also make sure that there is something like fruit or veggies added to the "Movie Menu". Generally, our movie night also includes dinner around the television, a favorite treat for my kids. Eating in the living room is not allowed, unless it is a special night.

Choosing a movie is not always an easy thing to do! With age ranges from 16-3, we have a variety of topics and interests that play hardball with each other. From sports movies to cartoons, each child has their own "favorites". It is fun to listen to them discuss movie night, and why a certain movie might be best for the whole family. Each takes their turn to discuss the pros, the cons and what they might learn from watching a particular movie. Mom & Dad occasionally choose, but most often, we monitor the discussion, get the final say to make sure that it really is an age appropriate movie for everyone, and find a way to incorporate a discussion of the main ideas and lessons the movie might or might not provide.

All Roads Lead Home The Movie brings together a family dealing with a tragic loss in a poignant, heart warming story. Watch the trailer, and get ready for the release of this fabulous movie on DVD January 13, 2008. Start a new tradition with your family by adding in a weekly or monthly movie night, settle down with a few of your favorite snacks and be sure to save some time to discuss the things that grab you and hold you tight to your seat while you watch what is sure to be a family favorite for years to come.

I am looking forward to the release of All Roads Lead Home The Movie. True family entertainment includes a plot with situations that can be identified with by every member of the family, from the youngest to the oldest. We each may focus on a different character, lesson or thought, but in the end, we feel the pain, the laughter, the emotions of the character. All Roads Lead Home The Movie promises to give us a large range of emotions, bringing tears and laughter together in a movie that tells a story that will touch the heart of anyone who sits down long enough to watch the first few minutes of this compelling story.

Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act - WTF?

It appears that all home crafters are facing a threat that will put them out of business forever. Congress is attempting to pass a bill that will require ALL home crafters to have their products tested and given a certificate of compliance before they sell them. This test will cost on average of $500, and will prohibit those small crafters who sell at craft shows and trade shows to test or be given fines ranging up to $100,000 for non-compliance.

Each component used by the crafter will need to be tested for lead. This includes thread, buttons, beads, and any other product you use. Each time you buy a new packet of beads, a spool of thread or a skein of yarn, it will need to be tested. The cost will not only prohibit you from bringing in a little extra money from your hand crafted items, but it will prohibit the local church or firehouse from holding craft shows as fund raisers. If crafters cannot afford the testing, than there will be no one to buy those tables or stalls at the price of $10-30 a shot.

Now, has Congress considered the impact this will have on major companies such as Red Heart, who sells yarn to the local crafter? How much will it impact their business? How much will it impact sites such as eBay, who has many members who survive on yarn sales, craft sales, candle sales? Most of the candle sellers on eBay sell their own hand crafted products? Soapers, how about you? Can you still afford to sell that bar of handmade soap for $3 when you paid $500 to have your supplies tested?

I understand the reasoning, and why the bill was put into play. However, our economy cannot survive many more hard hits, and this one will not only effect the small time craft junkie, but the tidal wave will help to destroy big companies as well.

Take a stand, people. Our government needs a wake up call!

Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis causes stabbing or burning pain that's usually worse in the morning because the fascia tightens (contracts) overnight. Once your foot limbers up, the pain of Plantar Fasciitis normally decreases, but it may return after long periods of standing or after getting up from a seated position.

Plantar fasciitis usually develops gradually, but it can come on suddenly and be severe. And although it can affect both feet, it more often occurs in only one foot at a time.

There are many treatments available, including home remedies and splints that will help you over come this condition should you suffer from it.
