Haiti's Earthquake & Pat Robertson
There is no ulterior motive, no higher power that is punishing a country of people for something that their ancestors may have done. God is supposedly the all forgiving, higher being, correct? If this is the case, God would not throw an entire country to the mercy of a freaking natural disaster. Ignorance is bliss, and there are times when I find that certain people such as Robertson open their mouths and speak without thinking about the consequences. It is fine to preach the word of God, it's great to listen if you believe there is a heaven, a hell, a God and a Devil. But in my oh so humble opinion, Robertson should his preaching skill to good use by asking his followers to help this country and their people.
We all tend to cast stones, speak out of turn and say crazy things. Perhaps we should remember that Karma is a bitch. What comes around, goes around boys and girls. Robertson should remember the bible and do unto others as he would have done unto him.

It appears that Toluna and Greenfield have combined forces to become one company. This should mean more survey opportunities for all of us. If you haven't logged into your account for a while, you should do so today. There are new questions needed to complete your profile. You might also be surprised at the number of points you have accumulated. I was able to redeem points from surveys for a $20 payout via PayPal yesterday!

Daily To Do List - 1/6/10
The daily to do list is small, and usually only takes a few minutes to complete. It's good for adding a few cents to the Christmas Nest Egg we started building this past year. And once again, it's time to start building that egg! Christmas tends to be an expensive time of year for all of us. Let's earn together!

School Buses - They Make Me Crazy!
In reality, what we get in some cases, is a cranky, miserable person who thinks that all kids are the bane of their existence. I am in the middle of an all out war with the bus company here. And it's a freaking one sided war. I can't get them on the phone, can't get them to return a phone call, and can't get on the bus and tell the driver straight up that if she moves one more time before my daughter is seated I will get on that bus and drive it myself.
I am not the only one with complaints, I must add. Just a few short months ago, a bus driver was caught driving a school bus full of kids while she was drunk. How was she caught? Because a little boy had a cell phone in his bag and was smart enough to call his mother and tell her he was scared because she was driving like an idiot. Just a few weeks ago, my husband saw a bus driving down the road. The bus driver was reading a book while DRIVING down the road!
You have got to be kidding me. Our children need an education. Parents need to work, and many do not have a work schedule that allows them to drive their kids to and from school. It is time that our educational system stands up and demands better service from the people who provide and drive the bus every day. If your child screws up on the bus, they get suspended immediately. If a bus driver decides to step on the gas before your child is seated, the bus company expects you to turn a blind eye. Anyone else out there that looks confused and is saying WTF?!
Perhaps Obama should have addressed the educational systems and transportation systems instead of our students this past fall. Because I've got a news flash for him. If your child doesn't feel safe on the damn bus, they spend the day worrying about the ride home, not their education.

Cheap & Easy Decorating
This time around, I found that they had a few gorgeous jigsaw puzzles. Small ones, with only 250 pieces, but they finished out into a 10x14 picture. I purchased a few of them in different styles, grabbed 2 frames and headed on home with a new idea. My home is in desperate need of stuff on the walls. My entire family has complained that they are tired of looking at white walls and needed a change.
So we took that frame apart, built the puzzle on the cardboard back and then glued it in one piece to the paper that was inside the frame. Once it dried, we had a beautiful picture to place on the wall in a frame that, while not gorgeous, will do for a home with a bunch of kids who like to play ball inside. And the best part? I spent $2.16 on that great 10x14 picture that now graces the living room wall.
The second best part? It was a great time spent around the table with my daughter, who loved putting it together. The rest of the family spent the afternoon on the couch, watching football and groaning over the shut out game between the Eagles & the Cowboys.
Our next project? It's back to the dollar store for some Disney character puzzles. The girls are begging for a few to grace the walls of their bedroom. And for 2 bucks a shot, I won't mind when they knock it down!

Did You Survive The First Day Back To School?
It is cold outside. The kids did not want to go. I heard every complaint from a stuffy nose to the famous "I'll die if you make me go!" But at last, the kids are safely off to school in their bright yellow bus. They always feel better once they get there, but it sure is painful until they do.
And so, in honor of Mom's first day of sanity after a long holiday break, I think I'll make cookies and have some hot chocolate on the table when they get home. After I have a pot of coffee, watch some TV, take a nap and do some laundry...
Someone should make a song called "Catching Up Is Hard To Do!"

Flu Cure
This dietary supplement uses the helpful properties of the Elderberry to boost your immune system. It may have been a fluke, but I will keep this in my medicine cabinet from now on and take it on a daily basis. My symptoms have gotten consistently better since I began using this product last week. I am now able to catch my breath and the coughing fits which were happening every few minutes have settled down to just a few times a day. It may just be the best new flu cure to come along in a very long time. Give it a try to keep the flu and colds at bay this winter!
